Catherine Sluga became a valued member of the Read Charlotte team in August 2023. Having a strong academic background, Catherine holds an undergraduate degree in special education from Winthrop University. Residing in Charlotte for the past six years, she has established deep roots within the community. Prior to joining the Read Charlotte team, Catherine gained experience and recognition as an educator. She spent time leading her elementary students in the classroom while also taking on leadership responsibilities within her school. Her commitment to education is underscored by her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina.
In her personal life, Catherine finds joy in her family. She shares her life with her husband, Matt, her daughter, and their two dogs. An enthusiast for children’s literature, Catherine’s favorite children’s book is “The Napping House” by Audrey Wood. She fondly reads it with her daughter before bed most nights.
With her diverse experiences and dedication to literacy, Catherine is excited to contribute to uniting the Charlotte community around the cause of early literacy.
