Tamara Wilkerson has eight years of teaching under her belt and has spent the past four in a Title 1 CMS school, teaching first grade. Her colleagues say she’s one of a kind and the first to go above and beyond when it comes to her job.
“As soon as Mrs. Wilkerson walks into a room it comes alive,” explains Natasha Norton. “Her friendly voice and reassuring words always make for a great learning day. She is so kind and always the first one to volunteer her time, energy and finances.”
After being nominated by TWO different people to become a Read Charlotte Reading Hero, it’s clear Wilkerson’s passion is inspiring to everyone around her.
“Mrs. Wilkerson makes sure she is always reaching out to parents and building fantastic relationships so that parents understand how important reading to their children is,” explains Sherma Barthlett. “She also loves helping other teachers so they too can give students an AWESOME experience. Students, co-workers and parents are lucky to be around this excited teacher!”
