Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Thompson is a member of Uplift Christian Ministries, a mother, grandmother, and a wife. She leads a very busy life yet she always makes time to serve. Ms. Liz has always had a passion for children and an even bigger passion for seeing them walk in success.
She has always asked for the students identified as needing “the most help” or the students deemed “hard to deal with”. She wants those students because “they just need someone to take time with them” as she so beautifully explained.

Ms. Liz has made it her mission to find out what these children are interested in and use their interests to make leaps and bounds in reading proficiency. She has had so numerous children grow 3-4 reading levels by working with them every week. We have seen her engage in conversation with children; high five them, hug them, and address them as Mr. & Miss. Children light up when they see her coming to pull them from class with her bag of books and her bright orange Uplift CM shirt on. The children smile and Ms. Liz smiles even bigger.

Anyone that understands the importance of connecting with children through respect and love is making a difference. Ms. Liz is serving the community by helping to establish a love for reading one child (sometimes two) at a time.
