One of the organizations Read Charlotte partners with is HELPS (Helping Early Literacy with Practice Strategies), an evidence-based program proven to improve children’s reading fluency. We coordinated its introduction in Mecklenburg County in 2018, and then the Helps Education Fund took on the primary role in managing the program.
HELPS has been developed and researched for use in both one-on-one (adult-student) and small group contexts. The HELPS for Small Groups program is used by educators and combines strategies most associated with improved outcomes for small-group reading fluency instruction.
